favorite places to eat in calgary

im not talking nice restaurants. im talking shitty little places that seem to always be open that are so good you dont understand how they arent packed at all times.

my personal favorite is Shawarma Knight on 14th st. best shawarma ive ever had and the drink selection is good. they have great falafel as well. im never disappointed. calgary seems to have a lack of real cheap easy food though. this is the only major city ive been to/heard of where its not common and easy to get a slice of pizza for under $2

on centre street like before 30th ave i think there is this sweet little covert italian place across from the 7-11, used to go there sometimes when i lived in tuxedo park
the menu is so small though, like maybe only three things for an evening dining but it's chef's specialty and it's all homemade and sooooo good, pretty cheap from what i remember and the place isn't very extravagant, just like legit tacky italian family shit pretty much

AB KING PIZZA (FUCK A CPU). $5 gets you an 8" personal pizza and a pop from everyones favorite albanian nationalist pizza place. its on rundlehorn drive and sixtieth st NE or something, next to the pineridge community centre. best.
eat-a-pita on 17th ave and 50th st SE is the single best falafel/shawarma/donair place in the city. all the food on 17th SE is awesome.

and the almighty BLACKFOOT DINER!

yeah i think that's what it's called. pretty hard place to see from either way coming up centre street, i don't even know if it's actually there anymore.
there was a sweet pizza place just up the road from there with some guy who also made lebanese dishes as well, it was like azad's or azim's or something.

centre street in general just has some dope places to eat

Blackfoot diner french toast is lovely.

the belmont diner in altadore. (SW)

and pies plus. right across the street from fish creek station. best pie in the city and good sandwiches too.

awesome pizza and the shawarma place in kensington. also, la vienna off kensington by madeline d'houet JHS. the hawaiian penne is fucking phenominal

blackfoot diner is fucking amaaaazing though. definitely in my top two places to actually go in and be served by someone.

Cept one time at the black foot diner i got made fun of by a bunch of truckin bros. i guess i deserved it though, me and a friend were reading poetry to each other.

Little Miss Saigon in Southland Crossing had good Viet food for cheap. It was pretty dirty and suspect. It's been closed down and replaced though

I go to the Burger Inn on 17th Ave and 4th St. incredible burgers. Also Boogie's on Edmonton Trail is awesome possum.
I like the CPU in Bridgeland but the other ones aren't anywhere near as good.

best vietnamese food i've had in the city is giang nam, which is across 16th ave from peter's drive-in. most vietnamese is pretty interchangeable and there doesn't seem to be a lot of variety between restaurants but giang nam is fucking TASTY. its the least pretentious place ever, you can buy cough-drops or a banana if you want, and there's a shitty tv just sitting on one of the tables that the owner occasionally kicks up his feet and watches. a whole fried quail is $3!

about four blocks south from there on edmonton trail is boogies burgers. local classic, and even though its pricier, it blows peters out of the water. they also have the fat elvis, a milkshake with bananas, peanut butter and bacon which is named after a big boys reference and is surprisingly delicious. best.

and the CPU here in bridgeland actually is pretty good. the 8th ave and kensington locations are fucking soggy cardboard shit, and i'd ALMOST rather eat little caesars. never been to any of the other ones as far as i know.

haha i win. That Vietnamese place is the best. Only went once but I loved the food and it was pretty cheap too, at least for a restaurant.

yeah boogies is the best. i am really fond of peking garden in the nw. order the hot pot off the chinese menu with shitakes, squid and pork. their duck with caramelized pineapple is also the best. u & me had the best dim sum in the city but they got shut down. golden inn in china town is pretty good too, not that cheap but i'm pretty sure their open till 3 am. server basically wouldn't let me order what i wanted and picked what he thought was better for me to eat. way better then singapore sams for late night chinese. i'm pretty fond of midori on 17th for cheap sushi. 15 dollar lunch buffet at taj mahal is one of the most satisfying meals i've had in calgary. also casbah for moroccan. you'll end up spending 20-40 dollars but its worth it always.

the pizza place across from sait has unreal donair pizza
im not really picky it just has to be pancakes any time all the time

there's a sub and pizza place in the bottom of a tower on the northeast corner of 7th street and 4th ave SW that is fucking awesome. never bothered with the pizza, but pretty sure its cheap and they have a window open till like 3am. the subs are the fucking BEST, and the lunch specials are good. yesterday i got a barbecue bison footlong with a drink and chips or some shit and it was just under $8.00.

im really unfamiliar with most of these places in the north outside kensington and a few in the brentwod area. i wanna try all these places this summer. boogies is great though.

as far as okotoks goes, pizzaburg is the most amazing place... anyone who comes here occasionally should eat there, beeeeeeest scampi

i dont eat any chinese or vietnamese food cause that shit will kill you faster than sushi.

i like to eat at the drum a lot. i go there with my mom, i go there by myself, i go there on dates with your sister.

i donno the only time i eat out is before i fuck your mom.
